One of Jakarta's most established upscale malls, Plaza Senayan sits near the Senayan sports complex and draws a well-heeled local crowd alongside visitors. It feels less chaotic than some of the city's newer mega-malls — the layout is manageable and the air conditioning is mercifully efficient.
The mall houses international designer labels alongside solid Indonesian brands, and the food court and restaurant floor offer a decent cross-section of local and regional cooking. The cinema complex on the upper floors is a good retreat during Jakarta's frequent afternoon downpours.
If you're after a quieter shopping experience than the frenzy of Grand Indonesia or Central Park, Plaza Senayan is worth the detour. It's well connected by TransJakarta bus and easily reached on foot from the Senayan–Palmerah corridor.
