Pananjung is the green headland that gives Pangandaran its best walk. Trails lead through coastal forest where monkeys and deer are common, and the far side of the reserve has a quieter white-sand beach than the main town beach.
Go early if you want cooler air and fewer people. Keep food packed away around the monkeys; they are used to visitors and not shy.
