Getting There

Loksado is roughly five hours by road from Banjarmasin, the capital of South Kalimantan. The journey involves a combination of road and, in the past, river transport, though the route is now mostly paved. From Banjarmasin, take a bus or ojek (motorcycle taxi) to Kandangan, then a further connection to Loksado. Alternatively, hire a private car from Banjarmasin for the full day, which gives flexibility for stops along the way.

There are no flights to Loksado. The nearest airport is Syamsudin Noor International Airport (BDJ) in Banjarmasin, which has connections to Jakarta, Surabaya, and other Indonesian cities. Budget around a full day for the journey from Banjarmasin, especially if arriving by public transport.

Accommodation in Loksado is basic — simple guesthouses (losmen) run by local families. Book ahead if you are visiting during Indonesian public holidays, when domestic visitors from Banjarmasin can fill the town.
