Natsepa Beach on the northern coast of Ambon Island is the most popular beach for locals and visiting Indonesians, and for good reason — the white sand and calm, clear water are excellent, and the atmosphere is lively and cheerful rather than tourist-resort sterile. The beach is famous throughout Maluku for its rujak — a traditional Indonesian fruit salad with a spicy, tangy sauce — sold by vendors along the shore.
Getting there from Ambon city takes about 45 minutes by shared taxi or ojek (motorcycle taxi). The beach is busiest on weekends and public holidays; visit on a weekday for a quieter experience. The water is shallow enough for swimming and the views across to the hills of the Leihitu peninsula are good.
