Lake Tolire is a dark volcanic crater lake on the flank of Mount Gamalama, north of Ternate city. The steep rim, green slopes, and still water make it one of the island's most atmospheric natural stops.
Local stories give the place extra weight, but the scenery is enough on its own. Pair it with Sulamadaha Beach or the northern forts, and remember that Ternate's best days often mix volcano, sea, spice history, and short drives between them.
