The main museum in Biak town covers the natural history, ethnography, and war history of the island and the broader Cenderawasih Bay region. The collections include traditional artefacts from Biak's Austronesian-speaking communities — ceremonial objects, traditional boats, carved wooden items — alongside natural history displays covering the marine environment of the bay and the terrestrial wildlife of Papua.
A significant part of the museum is dedicated to the Second World War battle that was fought across the island in 1944. The war material includes recovered weapons, equipment, photographs, and maps covering both the Japanese fortification of the island and the American assault. For visitors interested in the Pacific War who cannot reach the better-known sites of the Marshall Islands or the Philippines, Biak's war history is genuinely significant and the museum provides useful context before exploring the cave systems outside town.
