Wapsdori Waterfalls

A series of waterfalls in the interior of Biak island near the village of Wardo, reached by a combination of road and forest trail. The falls drop through the limestone karst landscape that characterises the island's interior, and the surrounding forest holds some of the birds that make Biak notable for ornithologists — the island has several endemic species, and Biak is considered one of the better locations in western Papua for bird of paradise sightings.

The trail to the falls involves a walk of roughly two hours through dense forest from the road end near Wardo; local guides from the village are strongly recommended as the path is not well marked and the forest can be disorienting. The falls themselves offer good swimming in clear pools. This is a full-day excursion from Biak town, best arranged through a local guide or guesthouse operator who knows the relevant community contacts in Wardo.
