Sultan Iskandar Muda International Airport is southeast of the city and has regular flights from Jakarta and Medan, plus occasional regional links. A taxi or ride-hailing car into the centre normally takes 30 to 45 minutes, depending on traffic.
The Ulee Lheue ferry terminal west of town is the departure point for Sabang Island on Pulau Weh. Fast boats usually take about an hour to Balohan; the slower car ferry takes longer but is useful if you are travelling with a motorcycle.
