Parai Tenggiri is the most polished of Bangka's beach resorts — a well-maintained stretch of smooth white sand with a resort hotel and water sports on offer. The snorkelling around the offshore rocks is among the best accessible from the beach; rent a mask and fins from the resort and you'll find reef fish sheltering in the granite formations just a short swim from shore.
It is a more organised experience than the wilder beaches further north, which suits some travellers and not others. The resort infrastructure means there are good facilities: beach chairs, restaurants, equipment hire, and a pool if the sea is rough. Worth knowing that Parai Tenggiri is the beach choice for package tourists staying at the adjacent hotel — if you want solitude, aim elsewhere.
