Rahmat International Wildlife Museum & Gallery is an unusual Medan museum: a dense natural-history collection of mounted animals, dioramas, and conservation displays gathered from Indonesia and far beyond. It is old-fashioned in presentation, but the scale of the collection is hard to ignore.
Travellers with children, a rainy afternoon, or a specific interest in wildlife will get the most from it. It is not a substitute for seeing Sumatra's living forests, but it does underline how rich and threatened the region's fauna is.
