Sabang is reached by ferry from Banda Aceh. Fast ferries (speedboats) make the crossing in about 45–60 minutes and depart from the Ulee Lheue port in Banda Aceh; slow car ferries take 90 minutes and run less frequently. The Balohan port on Sabang Island is on the southeastern coast, about 20 km from both Sabang town and Iboih beach.
To reach Banda Aceh, you can fly from Kuala Lumpur or Jakarta via Sultan Iskandar Muda International Airport. Overland from Medan is possible but takes the better part of a day.
