Sumbawa rewards travellers who get off the main tourist trail. The island is larger than Bali and Lombok combined, but sees a fraction of the visitors. Its surf breaks, remote beaches, volcanic interior, and traditional Sumbawan culture make it one of the more genuine off-the-beaten-track destinations in the Indonesian archipelago.
