Getting Around

The island is flat and small enough (about 18 kilometres across) to get around easily. Cycling is the most enjoyable option — the dedicated coastal path covers most of the key sights, and bike rentals are everywhere (around 50,000–80,000 IRR per hour). Taxis are available and cheap by Western standards, useful for getting between the main hotel area on the north coast and the Harireh ruins or Greek Ship on the south.

There is also a free shuttle bus service that runs a circuit between the main hotels, the shopping district, and key tourist sites. Pick up a timetable from your hotel. Walking is pleasant in the cooler months; in summer, the distance between sights in full sun is not trivial.
