When to Go

Nazareth is pleasant year-round, but the best visiting conditions are spring (March to May) and autumn (October to November), when temperatures are mild and the tourist season is not at its peak. Summer in the Galilee can be hot — 30–35°C is common in July and August. Winter is cool and occasionally rainy but rarely cold.

The major Christian feast days — Christmas and Easter — bring large numbers of pilgrims and a festive atmosphere to the old town, but accommodation prices rise and the basilica can become crowded. Avoid the week of Easter and Christmas if you want to see the old city without fighting through coach-tour groups.
