Komehyo Osu

Komehyo is Japan's largest second-hand retailer and the company was founded in Nagoya in 1947 — its eight-storey flagship store in Osu is the densest single concentration of pre-owned luxury goods in the country. Whole floors are devoted to vintage Rolex, second-hand designer handbags, jewellery, kimono, cameras, instruments, watches, art, and most rarely-seen Japanese second-hand specialisms.

For most non-Japanese visitors, the kimono floor is the real draw — silk and cotton kimono in good condition from a few thousand yen, plus obi, accessories and full coordinated outfits. Komehyo authenticates all designer goods, which means the prices reflect that confidence; it is not the cheapest option in Osu, but it is the most reliable. Open daily.
