Noto Satoyama Satoumi Cycling Route

250-km circuit of the peninsula through rural hamlets, coastal cliffs, and terraced farmland

The Noto Satoyama Satoumi cycling route circles the peninsula in roughly 250 kilometres, though most riders break it into sections over two to four days. The route passes through the core scenery of the peninsula — terraced paddies, fishing villages, coastal cliffs, and mountain cedar forests — with enough quiet roads that the cycling itself is a pleasure rather than an ordeal.

Rental bicycles (including e-bikes) are available at several points on the route, particularly in Nanao at the base of the peninsula and in Wajima at the northern tip. The route is well marked with brown cycling signs. There are guesthouses and small ryokan at intervals along the way. The most challenging section is the hilly western coast; the eastern shore along Nanao Bay is gentler and good for less experienced riders.
