Daisho-in is a Buddhist temple on Miyajima, set into the forested slope above the busier shrine area. It is easy to miss if you only follow the crowds to Itsukushima Shrine, but the temple rewards the short climb with prayer wheels, statues, small halls, and a calmer mountain atmosphere.
Look for the Dai-hannyakyo Sutra wheels, which visitors turn as they pass, and the rows of small Jizo figures tucked around the grounds. It is one of the best ways to slow down on Miyajima before heading higher toward Mount Misen or back to the ferry.
