Gohyaku-Rakan is a small hillside temple near Iwami Ginzan, known for its hundreds of carved stone rakan figures. The statues sit in quiet chambers cut into the slope, giving the place a more intimate feel than the larger mining-town sights nearby.
It works best as part of a slow visit to the Iwami Ginzan area. The stop is short, but the setting and the sheer number of figures make it worth adding if you are already exploring Oda's old silver-mining district.
