Kibitsu Shrine

Important Okayama shrine known for its long covered corridor and Momotarō legends.

Kibitsu Shrine is one of Okayama's most rewarding shrines, set northwest of the city centre and tied to the legends that fed the Momotarō peach-boy story. Its long covered corridor, running in a graceful line through the precinct, is the architectural signature.

The shrine is quiet compared with Okayama Castle and Korakuen, which is part of its charm. Allow time to wander the grounds rather than just photograph the corridor; the place works best as a slower cultural stop on the Kibi Plain side of the city.
