The Okayama Orient Museum is an unexpectedly focused museum for a mid-sized Japanese city, with collections from West Asia and the ancient Near East. The displays cover ceramics, glass, metalwork, and archaeological objects.
It is a useful change of pace if you have already done the castle-and-garden circuit. The museum is close enough to combine with the Prefectural Museum of Art and a walk back toward the river.
