Saijo Inari is a large religious complex northwest of central Okayama, associated with Inari worship and recognizable for its enormous torii gate. The site blends Buddhist temple and shrine elements, which makes it more layered than a quick photo stop.
It takes some effort to reach compared with Korakuen or Okayama Castle, but the scale and atmosphere justify the trip for travelers interested in religious sites. It is especially lively around New Year, when crowds come for first prayers.
