Shichikawa Dam is a quiet inland viewpoint in the hills north of Kushimoto. It is best known locally during cherry blossom season, when the reservoir, wooded slopes and spring colour make the drive worthwhile.
Come for the scenery rather than the engineering. Outside blossom season it is a low-key stop, but in spring it gives a different view of the Kii Peninsula away from the coast.
