Eisho-ji

The only nunnery in Kamakura, a Jodo-shu temple founded in 1636, tucked in a side lane just off the main path between the station and Kencho-ji. A tranquil enclosure that rarely sees the crowds of the larger temples. The main hall houses images of thirteen Buddhas, and the autumn garden is particularly lovely. Free admission; respectful behaviour expected.
