The Enoden (Enoshima Electric Railway) is Kamakura's charming coastal tramway, running from Kamakura Station to Fujisawa with stops at Hase (for the Great Buddha and Hase-dera), Yuigahama (for the beach), and Inamuragasaki. A single ride costs around 250 yen; a day pass covering unlimited rides is good value if you plan to use it multiple times.
Buses from the east side of Kamakura Station serve the Kencho-ji and Tsurugaoka Hachimangu area. Taxis are available but the streets around the main sights can be clogged on weekends.
Walking is the best way to get between the northern temples and the centre. Kita-Kamakura to Tsurugaoka Hachimangu takes about 30 minutes on foot through the valley. The Daibutsu Hiking Trail connects the Great Buddha area with Kita-Kamakura via forested ridgelines — plan two to three hours and wear shoes you can walk in.
