The streets around Sakuramoto station (Nambu Line) and the area just south of Kawasaki Station have a dense concentration of Korean barbecue restaurants serving the local Zainichi Korean community. These places are categorically different from the polished Korean barbecue in Tokyo's Koreatown — the rooms are older, the prices lower, and the quality of the beef and pork cuts is high. Samgyeopsal (thick pork belly) and galbi (short ribs) are the standards. Most restaurants open for dinner only and are busy from 7pm onwards. The streets are most lively on Friday and Saturday evenings.
