Kawasaki is not compact. The city stretches from the industrial bay waterfront in the east to the Tama Hills in the west, a distance of about 15 km. The JR Nambu Line connects the eastern districts (Kawasaki Station) to the western ones (Mukogaoka-yuen, Noborito) — essential for reaching Nihon Minka-en and the Fujiko F. Fujio Museum. The Daishi Line, a short private railway, runs from Kawasaki Station to Kawasaki Daishi in about 8 minutes. Buses connect the station to the waterfront industrial zone. Cycling is practical in the flatter eastern parts; the western hills are steep.
