Shinjuku Gyoen

Sprawling garden blending Japanese, English, and French styles

One of Tokyo's largest and most beautiful parks, combining Japanese, English, and French formal gardens across 58 hectares. It is one of the best places in the city for cherry blossom viewing in late March and early April, when over a thousand trees bloom. The greenhouse holds a good collection of tropical plants.

Alcohol is not allowed, so it stays calmer than Ueno Park during hanami season. Entry is 500 yen. Closed on Mondays.
