Negishi Forest Park

Spacious Yokohama park on the grounds of Japan's first Western-style racecourse.

Negishi Forest Park is a broad green space with an unusual past: it occupies the old Negishi Racecourse, one of the places where Yokohama's international history left a very visible mark. The surviving grandstand ruins give the lawns a strange, elegant backdrop.

The park is useful for families, runners, and anyone who wants a quieter Yokohama beyond the waterfront. Look for the horse-racing history as you wander; it gives the place more depth than a normal neighbourhood park.
