Iriomote is about the wild interior — rivers, mangroves, forest, coral reefs — not about town sightseeing. Most visitors spend their days on the water (kayaks, dive boats, snorkelling) or on hiking trails to waterfalls. The two small towns of Uehara in the north and Ohara in the south are simply bases.
