Hiwasa punches above its weight for a small coastal town. Yakuōji Temple is the main draw — one of only four unlucky-age temples on the Shikoku pilgrimage, it draws steady streams of pilgrims year-round. The Sea Turtle Museum is a worthwhile stop, particularly for the outdoor pools with full-grown loggerheads. The town is small enough to cover on foot in a morning.
