Late June to August is the peak season for sea turtle watching — females come ashore at night to nest on Ohama beach, and the museum runs guided observation walks. Spring and autumn are pleasant for cycling and visiting Yakuōji without summer crowds. The Iron Man contest and the Ise Ebi Lobster Festival are both autumn events worth timing a trip around. Winter is quiet and cool but the temple and museum remain open year-round.
