Tarumizu Ruins, also known as Minenoura, sit in the hills behind Yamadera. The area was once used by yamabushi mountain ascetics and is associated with Jikaku Daishi's decision to build Yamadera. The highlight is a wooden torii gate set into a honeycomb-like rock formation, reached on a quiet walk beyond the main temple area.
