Oymasha Lake

Oymasha is a small lake on the suburban fringe of Aqtau, separated from the Caspian by a narrow strip of land. It is a quiet local spot — less developed than the seafront promenade — and a good place to watch birds. The lake attracts flamingos and other wading species, particularly during spring and autumn migrations.

The area around the lake has a flat, open landscape typical of the Mangystau steppe, with the Caspian visible on one side and the city on the other. It is more valued by locals for its tranquillity than for any specific attraction, and is easily reached by taxi from the city centre.
