Ehden Village Centre

Ehden's village centre is a compact collection of stone buildings arranged around a central square, with the old church, a handful of cafes, and the characteristic honey-coloured limestone that defines northern Lebanese mountain architecture. In summer the population swells as Beirut families move up to escape the coast heat, and the village takes on a lively, almost festive atmosphere — restaurants and coffee shops stay open late, and the square fills up in the evenings.

Outside of summer, Ehden is quiet and somewhat austere, the stone houses shuttered, the streets largely empty. This quieter version of the village has its own appeal: the mountain silence, the views down towards the coast on clear days, and the sense of a community with deep roots. The old residential streets near the church reward a slow walk, with carved stone doorways and walled gardens typical of traditional Lebanese mountain building.
