Ehden is well-placed for exploring the northern mountains. Bcharre, about 20 km to the east along a mountain road, is the main town of the Qadisha Valley and a good base for exploring the gorge — the drive between the two is scenic in its own right. The Cedars of Lebanon are another 10 km beyond Bcharre, at 2,000 metres, with one of the best-preserved cedar groves in the country.
Tripoli, Lebanon's second city, is about 35 km downhill on the coast. Its old city has a well-preserved Mamluk quarter, souks, and some of the best street food in Lebanon. An easy half-day trip from Ehden.
The Qadisha Valley itself can be explored on foot from multiple entry points — a trail runs the length of the valley from the upper end near Bcharre down to the coast, taking two to three days in full. Day sections of the valley trail are accessible from Ehden's side of the ridge.
