The 9-hole golf course at Fraser's Hill has been here since the colonial era and makes no apologies for being exactly what it is: a small, quiet course at 1,500 metres elevation, surrounded by forest, where the main competition is with the gradient rather than with other golfers. It is one of the highest-altitude courses in Malaysia, and the air is cool enough that a round here feels nothing like golf in the lowlands. Non-golfers sometimes walk the fairways in the early morning simply for the birds and the views.
Equipment rental is available at the clubhouse, and green fees are modest by any standard. The course is rarely crowded outside of public holidays, and booking on the day is usually possible. The surrounding trees are a reliable place to spot forest birds between shots — whether or not that is the point of your visit is up to you.
