Fraser's Hill is accessible and pleasant year-round, which is part of its appeal — unlike the beaches and lowlands, it does not have a dead season. The dry months from March through September are generally the most comfortable, with clear mornings and the forest at its most walkable. Rain is possible at any time of year but falls heaviest between October and February, when the cloud sits lower and the mist is more persistent.
June is the month to come if birds are your reason for being here. The International Bird Race, one of the longest-running birdwatching competitions in Asia, takes place at Fraser's Hill each June and draws serious birders from around the region. Teams compete over 24 hours to record the most species in the designated area — the current record stands well above 200. Even if you are not competing, the concentration of expert birders during race week makes it a useful time to learn what you are looking at. Accommodation books up early in June, so plan ahead.
