Penang Botanic Gardens, also known locally as the Waterfall Gardens, dates from the late 19th century and gives Georgetown a green escape at the foot of Penang Hill. The paths pass tropical trees, palms, orchids, and frequent long-tailed macaques.
It is worth visiting for a quiet walk, plant collections, and a cooler break from the city. The gardens pair well with Penang Hill or nearby temple visits around Air Itam.
