Chilling Waterfall

Chilling Waterfall is one of the most popular jungle destinations accessible from KKB, requiring an hour's drive followed by a 90-minute trek through primary rainforest that involves crossing the river six times. The waterfall drops into a large, clear pool suitable for swimming, surrounded by boulders and jungle canopy. On weekends it can get crowded; weekday visits are quieter.

The trek itself is half the pleasure — the trail winds through genuine primary forest with tall trees, the sound of cicadas, and occasional wildlife. Wear shoes that can get wet (the river crossings are unavoidable), bring insect repellent, and start early to avoid the afternoon crowds. The forest entrance is at Sungai Chilling, about an hour from KKB town by road through Fraser's Hill direction.

A story
The trek to Chilling Waterfall involves six river crossings through the jungle, and the trail itself follows the Sungai Chilling — a tributary of the Selangor. The name comes from the Malay word for the pepper plant (chilli), which once grew wild along the banks, not from the temperature of the water, though the waterfall pool is indeed refreshingly cold.
