Kuantan Airport (KUA) receives flights from Kuala Lumpur on Malaysia Airlines and Firefly, with the journey taking under an hour. Flying is the most convenient option if you are coming from the capital.
By bus, Kuantan is about three hours from Kuala Lumpur via the KARAK Highway. Ekspres Pahang and several other operators run frequent services from TBS (Terminal Bersepadu Selatan) in KL. The long-distance bus terminal in Kuantan is at Terminal Sentral Kuantan, about six kilometres from the city centre. Taxis and Grab are the standard way to get between the bus terminal, the airport, and your hotel.
Driving is straightforward — the KARAK Highway is well-maintained and the tolls are modest. From the east coast highway, Kuantan is also accessible from Kota Bharu to the north or Mersing to the south.
