Things to Do

Kuantan rewards exploration beyond its modest reputation. The city's main draw is Teluk Cempedak, the sheltered bay a few kilometres from the centre, but the surrounding region packs in limestone caves, a freshwater lake system, and one of the finest rivers on the east coast. Local craft traditions — pandanus weaving, woodcarving, batik — are still practised in nearby villages and make for interesting half-day trips. Gua Charas and the Kuantan River observation tower give the city itself some genuine substance beyond the beach.
