Eating Out

Pangkor's best eating is its seafood. The island's fishermen land fresh catches daily, and the restaurants around Pasir Bogak and Pangkor Town know how to cook it. The deep-fried soft-shell crab is something of a local speciality — sweet, crisp, and best eaten with your hands. Grilled fish, steamed prawns in garlic and ginger, and butter crabs (a Perak-region preparation) are all worth ordering.

The main concentration of restaurants is along the beach road at Pasir Bogak and around the ferry jetty at Pangkor Town. Prices are reasonable by Malaysian standards. Most restaurants are open for lunch and dinner; some close in the low season.
