Getting There

The standard approach is by ferry from Lumut on the mainland. Ferries run every 30–40 minutes during the day and take about 35 minutes to cross; tickets are cheap. Lumut is accessible by bus from Ipoh (about 1.5 hours) or by bus from Kuala Lumpur (about 5 hours). A small airport on the island has irregular connections but is not reliably served by commercial flights.

Ferry: Buy tickets at the jetty on arrival in Lumut. The ferry runs from early morning to around 9pm. The crossing is flat and calm in good weather.

From Ipoh: Catch a local bus from Ipoh to Lumut's bus station, then walk to the jetty (about 10 minutes) or take a taxi.

By car: Drive to Lumut — there is paid parking near the jetty — and walk on to the ferry.

On the island, taxis are available at the jetty. Motorbike rental is the most flexible option and widely available; scooters cost around RM30–50 per day.
