Fu Ling Kung Temple

The Fu Ling Kung Temple is the largest and most elaborate Taoist temple on Pangkor, built into the hillside near Pasir Bogak. It is a colourful, ornate complex with multiple pavilions, incense coils hanging from the ceiling, and deities from the popular Chinese religious tradition including Mazu (the sea goddess, whose protection fishermen have sought for centuries). The temple is active and genuinely used rather than maintained for tourists.

The temple is worth visiting for the architecture and the atmosphere as much as for any specific religious sight. The approach through the trees is pleasant, and the views from the upper pavilion take in the surrounding coast. Dress modestly and remove shoes before entering the inner halls. Donations are appreciated.
