Sibu is one of Sarawak's great eating towns. Look for kampua mee, the dry Foochow noodle dish served with slices of pork or char siu, and kompia, small baked buns that turn up plain, stuffed, or served with minced meat.
The central market and night market are the easiest places to graze. Come early for breakfast noodles and coffee, then return after dark for grilled snacks, noodles, and sweets.
