Sibu is hot, humid, and rainy all year. The drier months from roughly May to September are the easiest for walking around town and making river connections, though afternoon storms are still normal.
The northeast monsoon, especially November to February, can bring heavier rain and higher river levels. That does not close Sibu down, but it can make upriver travel slower and less predictable.
