The cafe inside the Garden of Dreams is one of the nicest places to drink in central Kathmandu — a pavilion set within the restored neoclassical gardens, serving coffee, cocktails, and light meals in one of the few genuinely tranquil outdoor spaces the city offers. The entrance fee to the gardens is small and gives access to the cafe.
Evening here has a particular quality: the garden is lit softly, the noise of Thamel is muffled by the surrounding walls, and the restored colonnades provide a setting that could almost be somewhere else entirely. The cocktail list is reasonable and the coffee is good. This is the place to come before dinner if you want a conversation rather than a cacophony.
