Khasab town is small enough to walk in 20 minutes. The fort, the port, and the main cluster of guesthouses and restaurants are all within easy reach on foot. For anything outside the town — Jebel Harim, the khors by land, or the villages north of Khasab — you will need a vehicle.
A 4WD is essential for the Jebel Harim road and the mountain tracks. Car hire is available in Khasab, but supply is limited; book in advance if you're travelling in high season. Alternatively, guesthouses and tour operators can arrange day trips to Jebel Harim and other sites by vehicle with a driver. Taxis are available but rare — negotiate the fare in advance. The dhow cruise operators manage their own boat transport to the khors and to Telegraph Island, so no separate arrangements are needed for water excursions.
