Things to Do

Mong's appeal is its setting rather than any specific attraction. The hillside town looks out over the terraced valleys of Poonch District, with stands of walnut and chinar trees that turn vivid orange in autumn. The town bazaar is a working market rather than a tourist destination, with tea stalls and small shops selling provisions to surrounding villages.

The war memorial (Yaadgar) in the town commemorates soldiers from the area who served in various conflicts — a common feature of Azad Kashmir towns, which have contributed disproportionately to the Pakistani military. A walk out from the bazaar in any direction into the surrounding hills rewards you with views and solitude.
