Lyallpur Museum

The Lyallpur Museum sits beside the historic Coronation Library in central Faisalabad, a fitting pairing since the library (and the museum's neighbourhood) date from the same late-colonial period that created the city. The museum documents the history of the city and the surrounding region, covering its origins as a British-planned colonial settlement in the 1880s through its growth into one of Pakistan's major industrial cities.

Faisalabad was known as Lyallpur until 1977, and the museum preserves that earlier identity alongside the story of the city's textile industry and the broader history of the Punjab. It is a modest regional museum rather than a grand institution, but useful context for understanding why this city has the unusual street plan it does.
